Paleo Sweet and Spicy Asian Glazed Brussel Sprouts

These are brussels with a twist! I love brussels, but sometimes they can get old when you just roast them. So I came up with a new and delicious way of doing them. My family is obsessed with them and even got my little brother asking for more. Who doesn’t like sweet and spicy?

Prep time: 15 min Cook Time: 30 min Serves: 4

Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs brussels sprouts trimmed and cut in half length

1 tbsp olive oil

1/2 tsp salt

Pinch of black pepper

1/4 cup coconut aminos

1/4 cup maple syrup

juice of one orange

2-3 garlic cloves minced

1/2 tsp freshly minced ginger

1/4 tsp red peppers flakes, or to taste

1/8 tsp sesame seeds optional

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

2. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.

3.In a large bowl toss brussels sprouts with olive oil, salt and pepper.

4.Place in a single layer on baking sheet.

5.Roast on the center rack for 20-30 minutes, flipping half was until roasted.

6.While brussels sprouts are roasting, in a small sauce pan add coconut aminos, maple syrup, orange juice, garlic, ginger and red pepper flakes. Cook over medium heat stirring occasionally until liquid reduces by half and thickens, about 8-10 minutes.

7.Remove brussels from the oven and place in a bowl. Add sauce and toss to coat.

8.Add another pinch of red pepper flakes if desired for a little more heat.

9.Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired and enjoy warm!
